Welcome to the Student Scholars of Solentiname

The mission of The Solentiname Beca Fund is to encourage and assist students from Solentiname by providing them with the financial support to pursue a Universidad education. Students need to know that Universidad is an option, that this goal is within their reach, and that there are people that want to help them achieve their goal of sculpting their own visions of success and accomplishment.

This self-confidence will transfer to their school career as students realize they are capable of anything they put their minds to.

Scholar Profiles from Daily University

Our scholarships are aimed at helping young people attend university as well as empowering them in their confidence and self esteem. The majority of Nicaraguans, unless they are from quite wealthy families, attend University on weekends only (Distancia). Our goal is to enable students to attend daily University. Our principle partners are the best public universities in Nicaragua; UNAN-Leon, Intecna, technical school in Grenada. La UNI, the engineering university in Managua, and Juilgulpa Normal, a teachers college. Of course students are free to choose to attend any school they wish.

It all started back in September of '09 when we visited UNAN-Leon with two perspective students. Now, following a very thorough and transparent selection process, we are supporting 12 students in daily University.

Daily Univeristy Student: $50.00 month, $600.00 year.

All donations are pooled together for each group of students, and we hope you will be able to create a personal connection with one of these students to show that "we care" about their future. It’s a tangible and measured way to support the future of Solentiname, with some great rewards!
